America's Boating Club of Waukegan holds regular meetings throughout the year. Our Executive Committee Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, except in July, August and December unless a need should arise. The Executive Committee consists of the Bridge officers (Commander, Executive Officer, Administrative Officer, Educational Officer, the Secretary and Treasurer, along with the Members-at-Large and the Past Commander). We follow Robert's Rules of Order when we conduct our official squadron business. All members are welcome to participate in the discussions. However, only members of the Executive Committee are allowed to vote on any resolutions being considered. The meeting minutes are archived below. Included in the minutes are the Commander's and various committee reports, discussion items, old and new business items, and action items, such as voting on motions and approving budgets.
Our Squadron also holds a Spring Membership Meeting and a Fall Membership Meeting which are more social in nature. Official business is typically not conducted, nor are any minutes taken. The meetings are open to all members and their invited guests. They are usually held at a restaurant, with a featured speaker as a part of the program.
Our Annual Election Meeting and Dinner is also an official meeting that is held each November. It is open to all of our members. Business is conducted as usual by following an agenda, which includes the presentation of the nominees for our Annual Election. The slate of candidates for our Bridge officers, the Executive Committee and various subcommittees is voted on by the general membership in attendance. The Change of Watch Ceremony is an annual ceremonial event held each January. The main purpose of the meeting is to install the new Bridge and other elected officers. We also recognize the accomplishments of the outgoing officers and committee members and thank them for their dedication and hard work throughout the year. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the successes of the past year and to showcase the initiatives and opportunities the coming year will bring. The following annual awards are presented as a part of the festivities - the coveted Commander's Award, the distinguished Alfred M. Smith Educational Award and the humorous Bonehead Award.
