Programs are taught in Waukegan Harbor at the Waukegan Yacht Club facility. All staff members are certified in CPR, First-Aid, NASBLA boating safety, and CDC Concussion Training – Instructors are US Sailing Level I certified.

American Sailing Association
The American Sailing Association was founded in 1983 with a simply stated mission: to teach people to sail safely and confidently. To achieve that goal, the ASA set out to establish standards against which to measure a sailor’s level of knowledge and skill. Whether your goal is to skipper a bareboat charter in the Caribbean or to crew confidently on a short weekend sail, the ASA’s sailing-education system will guide you as you learn the theory behind sailing, practice the skills needed to handle a sailboat, and build the foundation of knowledge that will enable you to navigate a vessel safely and within the law.

ASA Sailing Challenge App
A cutting-edge gaming app designed by the American Sailing Association as a fun learning aid to help illustrate the principles of sailing in a rich interactive and entertaining format. Ideal for those students studying for their ASA 101 certification, or for any old salt looking for a challenge without getting wet!

ASA Bite Sized Lessons
Learning to sail can be overwhelming and there is a lot to take in. In an effort to help the ASA created a series of “Bite Sized Lessons” taken straight out of their textbooks. Each video is less than a minute in length. The topics covered include Port/Starboard Right of Way, Deciphering Tell Tales, Prop Walk and Prop Wash, VHF Radio Channels, Anchoring Basics, MOB First Response, Aids to Navigation, Wind Terminology, Apparent Wind and Hypothermia.

US Sailing Association
The mission of the US Sailing Association is to increase sailing participation and excellence through education, competition and equal opportunity, while upholding the principles of fair play, sportsmanship and safety. US Sailing is committed to ensuring that young people learn how to sail from certified instructors in a safe and fun environment. We have set the standard for youth sailing programs in the U.S. by offering certification courses for instructors and coaches, as well as the innovative Reach STEM education program.

Heartsaver courses are designed for anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory (for example, OSHA), or other requirements.
